CNC Routing Services
CNC routing turns flat stock and suitable solid material into useful components. Heartland FabCo reviews wood, plywood, HDPE, and selected 6061 aluminum projects for fit with the intended application.
Where routing adds value
Panels, drill templates, assembly guides, fixtures, inserts, and repeat profiles benefit from a shared digital definition. Flat components can combine outside profiles, pockets, and holes in one design. Routed wood reliefs use changing surface depth to create three-dimensional detail.
Choose material around the application
HDPE is useful for utility panels and guides, with creep and thermal movement to consider. Plywood can make economical flat parts, but veneer quality and internal voids affect edges. Solid wood adds grain character and movement. Selected aluminum plate work needs a separate review of engagement, tool access, and workholding.
Geometry that supports a practical quote
Rotating cutters leave a radius in internal corners. Specify mating parts and whether corner relief is acceptable. Thin webs, deep narrow pockets, small holes, and features close to edges can complicate fixturing or finishing. A nominal stock thickness may differ from the actual material; identify fit-critical joints.
What to send
Share a dimensioned drawing and DXF or suitable CAD reference, material and thickness, quantity, overall dimensions, critical fits, edge requirements, and intended use. For relief work, include a model or height reference and describe the desired detail. File links are reviewed manually; there is no instant routing price.
Common questions
Can a routed inside corner be perfectly square?
A cylindrical cutter leaves an inside radius. Corner relief, a mating-part change, or another process may be needed. Include the mating geometry before quoting.
Can I supply material?
Describe its identity, grade, thickness, condition, and source. Suitability and workholding need review before acceptance.
